SOLANA OUTAGES EXPLAINED BY ITS CEO ANATOLY YAKOVENKO
The Solana blockchain once again suffered an outage this week… It’s the umpteenth time.
They seem to happen with such regularity – that Planet Crypto spoke to Anatoly Yakovenko for an explanation.
PLANET CRYPTO: Mr Yakovenko, thank you for speaking to us.
ANATOLY YAKOVENKO: It’s my pleas.
PLANET CRYPTO: Solana is always having outages. When are they going to stop?
AY: Probably this afternoon…
This evening. ..
And three times a day, every day this week.
PC: What??
AY: Well, it’s a long time since we last had an outage. In fact the last time we had an outage, was.
PC: …?
AY: …
PC: ‘Was?’
AY: Hm?
PC: You said ‘the last time you had an outage was.’
AY: Oh sorry did I cut out?
PC: Yes.
AY: I said, ‘the last time we had an outage, was.‘
PC: …
AY: ….
PC: You cut out, again??
AY: Oh, did I? That’s really unfort.
PC: Hm.
AY: I said it was ages since our last outage: at least three hours.
PC: Three hours??
AY: That’s a whole 10,800 seconds in which our blockchain was fully functioning. That’s a massive 10,800,000,000,000 nanoseconds. Loads. But you don’t talk about that, do you?
PC: OK… So what WOULD you say to critics who say you don’t know what you’re doing?
AY: I would say: ‘you can go and…. Yourselves.’
PC: Sorry – I didn’t catch that. They should go and ‘what’ themselves ?
AY: They should go and ‘…’ themselves.
PC: I still didn’t catch that. You seem to keep cutting out at the crucial moment.
AY: (Sarcastic) Ha ha ha. Very funny. You can go and ….Yourself, too.
PC: You’re cutting out again.
AY: Am I? …Hm. I think I’d better close down this conversation for at least two hours, while I work out what the problem is.
